چکیده
Black soldier fly (BSF) (Hermetia illucens) larvae are currently being developed as bioconversion agents for organic waste treatment. The resulting or prepupae have a high protein and lipid content, primarily used feed fish, poultry, other animals. content of BSF larvae/prepupae is influenced by the growth can reach up to 57.8%. lipids mainly consist medium-chain saturated fatty acids, with lauric acid (LA) dominant component. LA in be enhanced incorporating utilizing substrates containing highly digestible carbohydrates larval growth. 76.13% reared on fruit waste. has been reported exhibit antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, anticancer properties. Moreover, it applications various fields such pharmaceuticals, food beverages, cosmetics, body care, soaps detergents, plastics, textiles. This review aims investigate explore its potential applications, thereby establishing novel source diverse fields.

Intra-Puparial Development of the Black Soldier-fly, Hermetia illucens
The intra-puparial development of the black soldier-fly, Hermetia illucens (L.) (Diptera: Stratiomyidae), was studied based on 125 pupae under controlled conditions in laboratory. The 6(th) instar larvae were reared until they stopped feeding, and the prepupae were separated according to the reduction in larval length and degree of pigmentation and sclerotization of the cuticle. The pupal stage...
متن کاملFrom organic waste to biodiesel: Black soldier fly, Hermetia illucens, makes it feasible
Biodiesel is a renewable and environmentally friendly liquid fuel. However, the feedstock, predominantly crop oil, is a limited and expensive food resource which prevents large scale application of biodiesel. Development of non-food feedstocks are therefore, needed to fully utilize biodiesel’s potential. In this study, the larvae of a high fat containing insect, black soldier fly (Hermetia illu...
متن کاملBacteria Mediate Oviposition by the Black Soldier Fly, Hermetia illucens (L.), (Diptera: Stratiomyidae)
There can be substantial negative consequences for insects colonizing a resource in the presence of competitors. We hypothesized that bacteria, associated with an oviposition resource and the insect eggs deposited on that resource, serve as a mechanism regulating subsequent insect attraction, colonization, and potentially succession of insect species. We isolated and identified bacterial specie...
متن کاملProprioceptive encoding of head position in the black soldier fly, Hermetia illucens (L.) (Stratiomyidae).
Because the eyes of insects cannot be moved independently of the head, information about head posture is essential for stabilizing the visual world or providing information about the direction of gaze. We examined the external anatomy and physiological capabilities of a head posture proprioceptor, the prosternal organ (PO), located at the base of the neck in the black soldier fly, Hermetia illu...
متن کاملReview of Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) as Animal Feed and Human Food
Food futurists accept that sustainability-minded humanity will increasingly incorporate insects as alternative protein. The most studied and easily reared species are not necessarily the most sustainable, acceptable, or delicious. Here, we review the literature on the black soldier fly, Hermetia illucens, which is capable of efficiently converting a wide variety of organic materials, from food ...
